Over the last year or two, I have become more and more aware of the plastic problem in our oceans. Every minute a truck load of plastic is dumped in the ocean and it is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in our waters than fish.
Plastic takes hundreds of years to break down and never leaves the ocean system. It can break down into micro-particles which are eaten by fish and enter the food chain, affecting animals further up, including humans. The effects of plastics can be seen globally and at the moment plastic consumption is still on the rise, with many companies not committing to bio-degradable alternatives until 2025.
We are running a concert to raise awareness of this issue and to raise funds for the Marine Conservation Society who work relentlessly to protect our seas and wildlife, as well as working hard to reduce the plastic pollution in our oceans.
